Childrens Activities

At the Bird of Prey centre, we feel it is important to encourage children to learn about birds of prey but have fun at the same time. We run various activities through the year. If you have any questions regarding any of our activities please feel free to contact us on 01234 742766 or 01234 742362.

The Young Falconers Club - We are now taking new membership to the Young Falconers club 2017

The Young Falconers Club started in 2001 and was the first of its kind to be started in the UK. Over the years we have taught many children how to handle and fly the birds as well as making it fun. The club runs for 10 months with one meeting held on the first Saturday of every month from 10.00am to 12.30pm. Over the 10 months the children will have the opportunity to take part in many different activities including:

- Learning the Falconers knot and safety.

- How to make equipment.

- Fly and handle different species of owls, hawks, eagles and falcons.

- Go out hunting with the harris hawks.

- Food preperation.

- Quizzes and competitions.

At the end of the ten months the children then go on to perform their own flying display, where we invite family members in to watch. We hold a bbq and hand out certificates of achievement. The cost for the membership is £105.00 and a sub fee of £2.00 per month is payable.

The year membership runs from January to November, please contact the centre for a membership form.

Junior Bird of Prey Experiences

During the year we run experience days for children. The experiences can either be done as a full day or a half day. The children will have the opportunity to handle and fly different species of owls, hawks, eagles and falcons. Please contact the centre for more details.
